Calling all Charities!
A chance to benefit from Nelson’s Opera in the Park.
BioPaints, the principal sponsors of Nelson’s Opera in the Park 2010, are asking for nominations from registered local charities who would like to be beneficiaries of a charities collection at Opera in the Park at Tahunanui on February 13, 2010.
As well as sponsoring the event, BioPaints is also covering the cost of tickets to allow free entry to the evening – although you will still require a ticket to enter.
BioPaints Business Manager Kathryn Barlow says because it’s going to be free to get in, she’s hoping they’ll have a great response to the charity collection.
“We’ve already had people tell us that because it’s free, they’re happy to give a good donation to a local charity. We’re expecting a fantastic and generous response from the public and we hope to be able to raise a lot of money for a good local cause,” she says.
Donations can be made as you enter the venue. Kathryn Barlow says people wont be asked for a donation once inside and that it will be entirely voluntary.
“We won’t be hounding people. There will be clearly marked points at the entry for donations and who’re you’re donating to.“
BioPaints is receiving all nominations via email – charities@biopaints.co.nz Any registered charity in the Nelson/Tasman region is eligible to put themselves forward, explaining why they believe they should be the recipient of the evenings charity donations.
“The process is that charities can email us and explain how they would use any money raised for the benefit of this region. It doesn’t matter how large or small they are – if they do good works with a local focus then we are happy to consider them.
The deadline for emails to arrive at BioPaints using the charities@biopaints.co.nz is Monday December 7, 2009.
BioPaints will choose the charity or charities and will announce the winner/s within a week.
Requirements for Nominations
- The charities must be registered charities.
- They need to work locally in the Nelson/Tasman region.
- They must be able to guarantee that at least 80% of the donations from Opera in the Park will be spent on services and support to their charity not including administration.
- Their nomination must include details of how they intend to spend the money
- Chosen charities must report back to BioPaints the details of where the money was spent/will be spent within six months of receiving the donation.
Kathryn Barlow says there are no pre-conceptions about what kind of charities will be chosen.
“We just want to ensure that when the people of Nelson and Tasman donate their money on the evening they know it will be well used to help others in our region,” says Kathryn Barlow.
